Viewed as an inclusive resource of specific hydrotherapy and massage techniques, this is a required text for hydrotherapy students at Bastyr University. This manual is presented as a teaching aid in the instruction of students in schools of naturopathy, nursing and physical therapy. Although the administration of hydrotherapeutic procedures is not technically difficult, good results are dependent upon meticulous attention to detail. Massage is an art which requires diligent practice to develop the finesse for which every conscientious student should strive. But technical skill is not enough; the therapist should know the underlying physical and physiological principles. The therapist should be able to correlate technical skill and physiological knowledge, thus adding greatly to the satisfaction and effective service offered to patients. Hydrotherapy is covered in the first section and includes chapters:The Rationale of HydrotherapyTechnique of Local Thermal ProceduresTechnique of Frictions, Sprays, DouchesTechnique of General Thermal ProceduresTechnique of Medicated BathsUnderwater and Spa TherapyMassage chapters highlight:The Rationale of MassageTechnique of Massage167 pagesCopyright 1964
